Tea For Two‘s stirring G1 Feltham win on Boxing Day began a new flurry of winners by Kayf Tara, which had totalled for the week so far when the promising novice hurdler Premier Bond stayed on strongly to take the last at Newbury on Wednesday ~ a race previously won by Champion Hurdler Rock On Ruby.

Fellow hurdlers Catherines Well, Tara Flow and Champagne At Tara also won this week, as did chasers Imagine The Chat, the Overbury-bred Mystifiable and Pandy Wells ~ but the most impressive performance by a Kayf Tara since Tea For Two came in defeat: Identity Thief‘s battling second to Nichols Canyon in the G1 Ryanair Hurdle which saw his odds for the Champion Hurdle contract to 14-1.

His week’s labours saw Kayf Tara’s earnings for the season rise to £1,013,069 ~ the first time they have topped a million before the new year. Only King’s Theatre, who died in 2011, and Presenting (two years Kayf Tara’s senior) are ahead of him.
