Golden Horn’s son Trawlerman further enhanced his credentials to be crowned champion stayer of 2025 when adding the G2 Lonsdale Cup to his victories this season in the G1 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and the G3 Henry II Stakes.

Godolphin’s consistent homebred has now won ten of his 22 starts, amassing earnings in excess of £1.5 million.

Of this latest win and fourth group success, Trawlerman’s co-trainer John Gosden said: “It’s lovely to see him come from the Gold Cup to win the Lonsdale. We will freshen him up now and all being well, he will run one more time this year at Ascot on Champions Day.”

The seven-year-old first sprung to wider prominence when winning the fiercely competitive Ebor Handicap at the same meeting three years ago.

Trawlerman was the second winner for Golden Horn on the Knavesmire this week after the victory of the progressive Santorini Star on Wednesday.
