Saturday double for Kayf Tara

26/03/11 - Tarablaze and Sail And Return in winning action at Bangor and Stratford

Talented eight-year-old Tarablaze extended his winning record to five from just nine runs when landing a novice chase at Bangor, the first half of a brace of victories by Kayf Tara geldings on Saturday.

Trained by Philip Hobbs for Diana Whateley, Tarablaze strolled to a 14-length success in the 3m1f contest to notch his second success over fences. He is also a Grade 2 winner over hurdles, having won the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at Haydock in February 2009.

As well as his five victories under rules, Tarablaze, who was bred by Mrs S J Brasher from the King’s Ride mare Princess Hotpot, also scored in a three-mile point-to-point as a five-year-old.

Later in the day, Sail And Return came home best in Stratford’s conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle to score by three-and-a-quarter lengths.

Bred by Mr and Mrs Andrew Davies, he is owned by his trainer Philip Middleton. The seven-year-old gelding is out of Maidwell, by Broadsword, and cost £20,000 at the DBS August Sale in 2009. He has an unraced four-year-old full-sister.
