Four-timer for Kayf Tara on New Year’s Eve

02/01/12 – Britain’s leading National Hunt sire ended 2011 in style with winners at Warwick, Uttoxeter and Punchestown

Kayf Tara extended his number of winners for the season to 40 and his strike rate to 35 per cent with four winners on New Year’s Eve at three different racecourses in Britain and Ireland.

His offspring were responsible for a quick-fire double at Warwick where Ballyoliver won the 2m5f handicap chase by five lengths for Venetia Williams. His victory was followed up in the next race with a win for the Kim Bailey-trained mare Kaffie, who won her second novice hurdle in a row.

At Uttoxeter, Bringewood Belle recorded her third win for her owner, trainer and breeder John Needham when landing the 3m handicap hurdle.

Irish-bred Sorted took the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle over two miles at Punchestown in the colours of Gigginstown House Stud. Bred by Raymond McKay, he has also been successful over fences, winning at Kilbeggan in May last year.

On Saturday, Kayf Tara has a chance of adding another Grade 1 winner to his tally with recent hat-trick winner Magnifique Etoile an intended runner in the Tolowrth Hurdle at Sandown.
