Five Christmas crackers for Kayf Tara

Winners coming thick and fast in Britain and Ireland 28 December 2013

Kayf Tara has enjoyed a successful festive period with five winners since Boxing Day on both sides of the Irish Sea.

The Gordon Elliott-trained youngster Roll It Out got the ball rolling at Down Royal, his first-time-out maiden hurdle win sparking a Boxing Day double which was completed by Neil King’s five-year-old Delgany Demon in the bumper at Towcester.

The following day, Mickie posted a game victory over hurdles at Kempton, landing the mares’ handicap hurdle in style for Henry Daly and recording her second win in less than a month, and fourth in total, for the Ludlow Racing Partnership. Later that day the four-year-old debutante Kayf Hampshire won the bumper at Limerick by four and a half lengths.

There was yet more bumper success for Kayf Tara at Chepstow on Welsh National day when Sheena West’s Justanother Muddle claimed a gallant victory in the mud having made nearly all the running.

In the big race itself, Kayf Tara’s Hawkes Point did everything in his power to claw back Moutainous, eventually finishing just a head behind the winner in second in the Grade 3 Welsh National. Hawkes Point’s full-brother Alfie Sherrin won the Grade 3 JLT Specialty Chase at the 2012 Cheltenham Festival.
