Trainers put store in Kayf Tara

Britain's champion NH sire in demand at the DBS Spring Sale with top price of £82,000
23 May 2014

Kayf Tara was well represented at the recent DBS Spring Sales, with 30 of his offspring changing hands over the three days for an average of £21,030.

Top-priced of these was the dual-winning point-to-pointer Mor Brook, who will join Kim Bailey’s stable after selling for £82,000.

Colin Tizzard and Alan King both took home stores by Kayf Tara, with Tizzard going to £70,000 for a four-year-old gelding out of the dual-winning hurdler Briery Ann, who was consigned by Stuart Campbell’s Marefield Farm. Tizzard also picked up a three-year-old out of the Listed winner Blue Ride for £40,000, while Alan King’s purchase was Kayf Tara’s top-selling daughter at the sale, a three-year-old half-sister to the multiple hurdles winner and Listed-placed Princely Player from Goldford Stud who was knocked down for £55,000.

Other National Hunt trainers to have recruited a Kayf Tara store this week include Charlie Longsdon, Sue Smith, Mick Easterby and Harry Fry, who paid £42,000 for a Trickledown Stud-consigned filly out of the nine-time winner Ede’iff.
