Kayf Tara in the lead again

Britain's Champion National Hunt sire in pole position as season swings into top gear 12 November 2014

With the 2014/15 National Hunt season now underway in earnest, Kayf Tara has resumed his customary position at the head of the table of the British jumps sires, with 31 winners so far.

November has started particularly well for the Overbury resident, with ten winners to date, including a Saturday treble on 1 November courtesy of Tara Road, Sign Of A Victory and Wilberdragon.

A recent impressive debutant for Kayf Tara was Stonegate, who won the bumper at Sandown on 8 November by a cool 19 lengths. The four-year-old was following in the footsteps if his illustrious brother Megastar, who won the same bumper on debut and went on to land the Grade 2 John Smith’s Champion Bumper at Aintree’s Grand National meeting.

Both trained by Gary Moore, the brothers were bred by Jeremy Hinds’ Pleasure Palace Racing from the Karinga Bay mare Megalex, who is a permanent boarder at Overbury Stud. The mare’s four runners by Kayf Tara are all winners, the other two being Zhakeira Spirit and Megasue. Between them, the four siblings have won nine races – a tally which is sure to be increased by the exciting Stonegate.
