Company notches up a Fast juvenile double

Fast Kar in a €16,000 maiden in Lyon means that both his two-year-old runners in France have won.

The Matthieu Palussiere-trained filly Fast Kar got off the mark at Lyon on Sunday to give her sire a quick juvenile double, after another French-trained juvenile by Fast Company, Red Onion, won impressively in Paris on Thursday. A third juvenile starter from the son of Danehill Dancer's third crop – David Evans's debutant Rapid Rise – ran well to be third at Leicester on Saturday.

It's a big week for the new Overbury stallion: Hamdan Al Maktoum's colt Taqdeer is an intended runner in the 2,000 Guineas – connections rate the colt a strong place possibility behind the short-priced favourite.

Meanwhile, Brian Meehan, who trained fast Company to be second in the Dewhurst Stakes to New Approach as a juvenile, is set to introduce two youngsters by the stallion this week: Jet Setter, a £57,000 yearling purchase and a brother to the stable's of 2015 first-time-out winner Maccus, starts his career at Windsor on Monday, while Await The Storm, who cost £38,000 as a yearling, runs at Bath on Tuesday. There, one of his opponents will be Nazik, trained by David Evans: the first runner by fellow Overbury stallion, Delegator.
