First winner for Dunaden

Manister House Stud-bred filly Dula claims the honours

Having been represented by some promising two-year-old runners in Britain already this season, Dunaden notched his first winner over the weekend when the grey Dula won at Slusovice in the Czech Republic.

A daughter of the Spectrum mare Sidecar, herself a half-sister to the American Grade 1 winner and Irish 1000 Guineas-placed Luas Line, Dula was bred in Ireland by Manister House Stud.

On Tuesday, Qatar Racing’s Sweet Pearl made a noteworthy debut when second at Nottingham for Richard Hannon, while the same owner has also been represented by Loving Pearl, trained by Ralph Beckett, who has been runner-up in two starts to date.

Of Dunaden’s five runners in Britain to date, Mary Redvers’s homebred Boorowa is another to have shown both promise and improvement when finishing third in a Newbury maiden on her second start at odds of 125/1.
