Tea For Two and Lizzie Kelly jump into the history books.
27 December 2015

Currently enjoying his best season to date, Kayf Tara added another top-flight winner to his stud record when Tea For Two played his part in Lizzie Kelly becoming the first female jockey to win a Grade 1 race over fences in Britain. The duo landed the Kauto Star Feltham Novices’ Chase at Kempton by four lengths.

The six-year-old is the third Grade 1 winner of the season for Kayf Tara following the exploits of exciting young hurdlers Thistlecrack and Identity Thief.

Tea For Two was bred by Mrs P G Lewin from the Tragic Role mare One For Me and is owned and trained by Nick and Jane Williams. He has won exactly half of his 14 starts to date, including the Listed Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton in January.

He was the first half of a Boxing Day double for his sire with Pandy Wells striking in the Racing FX Novices’ Chase at Huntingdon for owner-breeders Mike and Linda Paul.

Kayf Tara is closing in on £1 million in progeny earnings for the third season running, with the contributions from Boxing Day taking his tally to £964,924 and keeping him in second place among active sires in the National Hunt stallion table for Britain and Ireland.
